Spoondating Etiquette
Meeting new people should always be fun. We want the Spoondate experience to be awesome for all. So let’s try to follow these few rules of etiquette…
SHOW UP!
That’s a given. However, if you can’t make it for some reason, let your Spoondate know that you have to cancel. Not showing up would be insulting and disrespectful. Totally unacceptable! If you don’t show up at a dining event, your ticket will be forfeited and you’ll miss out on the delicious fun.
BE ON TIME
Make a good first impression by being on time. Tardiness reflects poorly on you and suggests that you are disorganized. If you’re late to a dining event, the event will start without you.
DO NOT OGLE YOUR SPOONDATE(S)
Just FYI… This is a major turnoff for most women, not to mention it’s very rude. It will make you look like a superficial person who only cares about a person’s look.
DON’T TWEET WHILE YOU EAT
We know this is the age of social media and all you Gen XY kids are eager to share everything you do with the world. That’s cool, but please don’t tweet while you eat. Be polite and put away your mobile device. If you must check-in on your favorite location-based service, do so before joining the table.
DO NOT PRETEND TO BE SINGLE WHEN YOU’RE NOT
Nuff said. That would be really lame.
DO NOT MONOPOLIZE THE CONVERSATION
We know that you’re awesome and that you probably have loads of amazing stories to tell. But, your Spoondate(s) may have awesome stories to share too. Don’t talk people to death. If your idea of a Spoondate is talking about yourself, you might as well stay home and record a youtube video of yourself.
LIMIT YOUR USE OF SWEAR WORDS OR PROFANITY
Swearing suggests a lack of vocabulary and will make you sound like a total idiot. Being polite will make you more likeable.
BE CLASSY
Don’t show off your wealth by flashing your money, credit cards or by buying rounds of drinks for everyone.
ENJOY THE FOOD EXPERIENCE
You may realize that you’re not that into the person/people you meet on your Spoondate. Hey, it happens :( Luckily, you can still have an awesome time by focusing on and enjoying the food experience. Food makes it all better ;)
BON APPETIT!!
